Job Advert Summary:

Oversees the Engineering function to ensure professional care of assets (availability and reliability at design capacity) of Plant and Equipment in a sustainable cost-effective way. Ensures compliance to relevant Legal requirements and ensure Safe operation of the plant equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

BSc Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Heavy Industrial or mining environment experience In depth understanding of clinker, cement and/or lime quarrying and manufacturing. Strong leadership, decision making and interpersonal skills. Systems (On Key or SAP) Compelling analytical capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Business Intelligence - Perform trend analysis and Root-cause Analysis to rectify problem areas.
• Functional Strategy and Planning - Develop and implement the departmental strategic plan in support of the overall business plan through the Asset Care Policy and Strategy. Develop and implement a departmental strategy through analysis of trends and/or changes in industry. Establish and maintain an Asset Care Plan for the plant containing all major asset replacements, renewal, maintenance and disposal (Asset Life Cycle). Ensure that the activities of the engineering department have a minimal impact on production by maximizing machine availability and reliability. Conduct resource capacity planning for the engineering function.
• Execution of Maintenance - Ensure the cost effective and timeous completion of maintenance activities within the department. Assess requirements for engineering facilities and approve requests. Optimise the department's core internal processes.
• Operational Control - Create and maintain an informative reporting and review system, with scheduled meetings taking place (Daily, Weekly and Monthly). Develop document control systems and practices. Co-develop and sign-off Engineering policies and procedures.
• Communication and Reporting - Ensure that key engineering department metrics are reviewed in the departmental INVOCOM. Provide input into interdepartmental INVOCOMs. Oversee the Weekly Operational reports, shutdown reports. Report factors, incidents and accidents that pose a business risk.
• Inventory Management - Ensure critical spares availability and minimize redundant equipment spares inventory by initializing and maintaining suitable mechanisms. Approve equipment and part specification of Capitalized Maintenance.
• Contractor Management - Set spares and service standards by actively supporting and complying with the PPC supplier rating system and best practices. Manage and liaise with external contractors, advisors or consultants to the asset care and maintenance function. Ensure adherence to PPC asset care policies, procedures and standards
