Role Summary
The Hospital Billing Co-ordinator must have sound knowledge and understanding of the whole patient journey from Admit to Receipt. The person must also have a sound understanding of the Netcare Tariffs & Billing Guidelines (NTBG), Operating systems (incl. CareOn and SAP) and Business reporting. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating all the processes that facilitate timeous final billing from all internal hospital departments. This includes coordinating outputs from reception, ward, theatre, and pharmacy. The function extends to gathering outputs required for final billing from doctors, pathology, radiology, and any other healthcare providers. The incumbent must be solution orientated and possess the necessary people skills to influence the gathering of outputs. The Hospital Billing Co-ordinator is required to maintain the channel of communication between the hospital and the Billing Operations Cluster (BOC).
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
Disruptive Innovation
Patient Liaison
- Ensure effective patient liaison with regards to managed care aspects excluding credit control functions.
Co-ordination at Hospital site
- Participate in regular BOC and site meetings.
- Achieve KPIs associated with hospital information flow to the BOC.
Build and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Work effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial.
- Create and maintain a positive environment where the differences of others are recognized, understood, and valued, so that all can reach their full potential and maximize their contributions.

Change Management
- Implement changes communicated by the BOC effectively to ensure compliance.
- Review and implement effective workflow process to facilitate efficiencies between BOC and the hospital site.
General Tasks
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement to enhance systems and its adaptations.
- Keep track of outstanding items required by the BOC workflow.
- Ensure that all communication and/or documents are submitted to BOC in the required digital format.

Skills Profile
Education
Required
- Grade 12 or Equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification
Work Experience
Required
- Worked in Netcare Billings Department for minimum of 3 years.
Knowledge
Required
- An understanding of the Netcare Confirmations, Case Management, and File assessing processes.
- Good Communication skills (written and verbal)
- NTBG knowledge
- Computer Literacy including SAP and CareOn.
