Education
Grade 12 (Matric).
Experience
2–4 years' experience in a Fruit & Veg or Fresh Produce environment.
1–2 years' experience managing a retail department and leading teams.
Experience coaching, developing, and managing employee performance.
Skills
Strong commercial and financial acumen.
Excellent merchandising, stock management, and planning skills.
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
A customer first mindset with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing Fruit & Veg team.
- Driving departmental sales, profitability, and gross margin performance.
- Managing stock availability, ordering, stock rotation (FIFO), and shrinkage to maximise profitability.
- Ensuring the department is fully merchandised, stocked, and ready for trade each day.
- Monitoring product quality, freshness, and presentation to exceed customer expectations.
- Executing promotional plans and merchandising standards in line with business requirements.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, housekeeping, and health & safety compliance.
- Managing departmental administration, including scheduling, waste management, reporting, and SAP transactions.
- Analysing sales and stock reports to identify opportunities to improve turnover and reduce waste.
- Creating a customer-focused culture that delivers outstanding service and operational excellence.
