SHE MANAGER (1 POST)

The SHE Manager will lead and oversee the University’s Safety, Health and Environmental management systems. The role involves developing strategic SHE programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operations.

Qualifications Required

• Degree in Environmental Science & Health, Occupational Safety or any related field.
• Professional certification- OSHEMAC/NEBOSH/ SAMTRAC or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Safety, Health and Environment with 2+ years in leadership position.
• Registered with relevant professional body.
• Strong knowledge of SHE legislation and ISO standards
• Experience managing teams and safety management systems

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the University’s SHE policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations applicable to educational institutions.
• Advise management on SHE risks, legal compliance, and strategic improvements.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections across academic buildings, laboratories, residences, workshops, and offices.
• Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor workplace and campus conditions to ensure health and wellbeing of staff and students.
• Develop and coordinate safety, health and Environmental programs for staff and students, including medical surveillance where required.
• Monitor and report on the University’s environmental impact and sustainability initiatives.
• Develop and deliver SHE training programs for staff, students, and contractors.
• Ensure contractors working on campus comply with University safety and environmental standards.
• Review safety plans for construction, maintenance, and renovation projects.
