Job Advert Summary

PPC Zimbabwe is seeking a dynamic and experienced, data-driven Technical Advisor – Mining to provide high-level technical expertise to our Mining operations. In this role, the successful candidate will be instrumental in optimizing extraction strategies by determining precise mining faces, sequence patterns, and blend designs. The incumbent’s primary objective is to masterfully control all quality elements of limestone, ensuring the delivery of consistently optimized, high-grade stockpiles to support downstream operations in line with relevant statutes, policies and procedure.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, or a related discipline. A Minimum of five years’ experience in mining: Full Blasting Licence Working knowledge of Mine Planning Software like Surpac, Deswik or Blast Map 3.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct and provide input into development of the annual mine run plan.
• Formulate and maintain operational material movement plans - limestone, clay (quality and quantity) as well as waste.
• Proactively use mining production data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance and input into process optimisation root cause analysis and quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage grade control and mine blasting, ensuring blast fragmentation is maximised.
• Execute procedures for ongoing and systematic 1st line equipment surveillance and condition monitoring and drive adherence to schedules for planned, unplanned maintenance and ad hoc projects.
• Manage and control raw material stock (clay, Limestone etc.) within budgeted inventory levels.
• Promote and ensure adherence to Mining Operating Best Practice, driving compliance with mining statutory licenses and permits.
• Promote and ensure adherence to the Integrated Management System, legal, statutory and regulatory requirements and manage factors, incidents and accidents that pose a business risk.
